Dien Bien Phu
The name Dien Bien was put by King Thieu Tri in 1841. The name Dien Bien means “strong frontier area”, proving the strategic position of this land. Dien Bien is famous for the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu - one of the symbols of the struggle for the independence and freedom of the Vietnamese people.
Dien Bien is a border province in northwest of Vietnam with a natural area of 9,562.8 km2 and a population of over 52,100.
