The North and Northeast Ninh Binh have borders with Hoa Binh and Ha Nam province, with Thanh Hoa province and the East Sea to the south, with Thanh Hoa to the west, with Nam Dinh to the east. It is a sub-region of the Red River Delta, in the tropical monsoon. There are two distinct seasons: rainy season and dry season. The average temperature is about 24 degree Celsius.
Ninh Binh is blessed with diverse topography with lowland, mountains and marine areas which creates favorable conditions for Ninh Binh to develop a diversified agriculture with the strength of industrial crops, fruit trees, forestation, livestock and fishing.

Trang An Ecological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Tam Coc - Bich Dong scenic area, is also known as "Halong Bay on land." This is a famous Buddhist architecture including ancient pagodas and the largest collection of Buddhist statues in South East Asia which gain many records of Vietnam. The best time to travel to Trang An is from January to March of lunar year because it is spring, not too cold or too hot. It is the peak season for visitors to visit Ninh Binh.
