Pu Luong National Park is a nature reserve in the districts of Ba Thuoc and Quan Hoa districts, located in the Northwest of Thanh Hoa province. The reserve covers an area of 17,662 ha, of which, ¾ is primary forest; It is connected to the tail of Cuc Phuong National Park by two gray limestone mountains running in parallel, in the middle are amazing rice valleys.

This is the habitat of Muong and Thai ethnic people. Pu Luong in Thai language means: The highest peak of the village.

In the journey to discover the majestic Pu Luong, Kho Muong valley cannot be overlooked – this is a tourism potential that meets all the natural conditions and cultural traditions of the community. Because of its geographical location deep in the core of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, this place still retains its pristine character. Here, 60 Thai ethnic households with more than 200 people live around rice fields and corn fields which are isolated from other villages in the region.

Surrounding the village is just the immense green of the mountain, which is extremely quiet. Especially when the people here know how to invest in constructing spacious houses on stilts to welcome tourists, they turn it into one of the best destinations for relaxation.

Tourists come here not only to admire the beautiful natural scenery but also to learn about the rustic life, culture and customs of the Thai people. Enjoy the traditional dishes of the mountains such as: Rice Lam, banana flower mannequin, bitter soup, corn wine, boiled duck...However, the road to Kho Muong is undoubtedly a challenge for visitors who want to visit and explore the place by motorbikes.

Son- Ba- Muoi villages

Son Ba Muoi villages, located on the top of the Pha He and Pha Chien mountains (Lung Cao commune), are considered to be a potential tourism development of Pu Luong nature reserve. The area is like a miniature Sapa because of its mild climate all year round, the average temperature of the year is only 18 degrees C - 22 degrees C. Because they are quite isolated from the outside, so still retains many customs of the ancient Thai people. The houses are retained the traditional imprint, expressing specific characteristics, not being mixed with modern architecture.

Pu Luong mountain peak of 1,700m above the sea level is one of the ideal trekking places in Vietnam. To conquer the peak of Pu Luong, professional trekkers take about 6-8 hours in good weather. At the peak, visitors can set up a camp to eat and rest overnight and the next day go down to relax.

Pho Doan (Lung Niem commune, Ba Thuoc district) has a fair where is a place to trade goods and meet people of Kinh, Muong, Thai people from surrounding communes and people in Tan Lac and Lac Son districts, Hoa Binh province.
